BEFORE SESSION - GOALS Last day of the camp. I am far from what I thought I would accomplish throughout the camp, but I think I did good in other areas. For example, I expanded on Chapter 3 when I thought I would be focusing only on Chapter 4. Now I'm in Chapter 4. Yesterday I was able to finish a first draft of my RQ#1. Today I will start with RQ#2. I am hoping that by next week I have all the quantitative issues sort of figured out so I can talk to my advisor on Thursday and discuss the second strand of my research. Overall, it's going well. I just need to keep this pace for the rest of the month. AFTER SESSION - ACHIEVEMENTS Today went just as good as yesterday. I really feel that these past two days I was able to write more than all the rest of the week together. Of course, I think this may be because after a long break without writing anything of my dissertation (November last year) it took me a while to find out how I wanted to organize things and build up to t...

Thursday June 7

BEFORE THE SESSIOON I just realized I totally forgot posting the blog yesterday. Probably because I was still working on the goal I had set for Tuesday, so I wasn't adding anything new. I managed to meet that goal, and get the part of assumptions completed. Today my goal is to get started with RQ#1, quantitative strand. I think it's time to get started on the actual results of my study. AFTER THE SESSIONS I stayed a little longer in the WC to finish up writing RQ#1. I think I managed to write it all up, and I feel pretty accomplished about it. I've been thinking to write this for a long time already. I had  the results in my head for a long time but I always felt I had to explain more of something else before actually starting to talk about my results. Today I finally arrived to the point of interpreting my own analyses and I found it surprisingly easy and straight forward. It may also be because I feel excited about my topic and the results I obtained from the an...

Goals: Today I am planning to finish with the subsection regarding the assumptions for multiple regression. Despite the frustration from yesterday, I was able to continue a little longer and finally get started with that subsection. If I get to finish in the 3h we have here, I will move into explaining the regression analysis. I also need to look at the results from qualtrics to be able to describe the population, but I may do that some other time when I am actually tired from writing. I feel this quantitative section is a little dense, perhaps because I don't feel extremely confident in the vocabulary and how I say thing to explain quantitative findings. But I am glad yesterday I was able to get started after continuing for a little longer in the WC.

June 4th. Goals and achievements

My goal today: Get started with Chapter 4 and possibly get at least one subsection done. I am thinking maybe I can get the assumptions section done?  But essentially I just want to get started. Results: I feel I'm going extremely slow. It feels that I don't even know what I am doing, and I just realize I probably need to repeat a couple of statistical analysis. I wanted to lay out the assumptions, but this also involves more analysis and also making sure I am doing it right. I just e-mail Dr. Barron in the Outreach center to get some help answering all the questions I had about stats. I am sure she will be able to solve them. It's really hard to get started when I feel I have so many gaps. I need to make sure I am explaining and interpreting things correctly.
